Yesterday I hit the photographers jackpot. I started out from Asheville around 4:30 am to get to THE spot (we all have them) where I knew I wanted to photograph a train (steam) coming over the Tuckasegee River near Dillsboro, NC. I had photographed the bridge several times in the past, knowing the bridge was built in 1900 for the old Southern RR, which now belongs to Great Smokey Mountain RR, but had never been that lucky. Now I knew that there would be an excursion train.
Well, I got there uber early, around 5:30 so I decided to photograph (or practice) sunrise and get some star shots.
And here SHE comes, right on time at 8:45, which in itself is a miracle for railroads, lol. After taking these shots, I decided to go into Bryson City and wander around.
Beautiful morning mist coming up from the river.
Won’t bore you much, but later in the day, after capturing the steam engine returning, I got on the highway to return to Asheville, and saw this:
Which is just one of 4 forest fires in the Bryson City, Dillsboro and Waynesville area.
Thanks for visiting, see you soon.
